Registration is NOW open. Sponsorship opportunities are NOW available!
Join SMPS-Georgia on Saturday, March 24th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00
noon for our first annual community service project with Trees
Atlanta. We will be working on the Oakhurst Green Space Forest
Restoration Project in Decatur.
About This Project: The preservation of urban green space and the
restoration of natural wildlife habitats contributes
to the overall quality of life for the community. The
removal of invasive plants which destroy trees and
choke out native plants is essential. The natural
green space is restored by then planting trees,
shrubs and other plants native to the area. Plan
to join us in giving back to the community and
environment. This will be a very physical project, so
come prepared to get a good workout. Work gloves
are not provided, but are required, so please bring
a pair with you. Bottled water will be provided at the
site. For questions, contact Beth Harris at:
trees-atlanta@smps-ga.org.
About Trees Atlanta: Trees Atlanta is a non-profit citizens’ group dedicated to protecting and improving Atlanta’s urban environment by planting and conserving trees. Trees Atlanta was founded by Central Atlanta Progress, the Atlanta Commissioner of Parks, and the Junior League to address downtown’s lack of green space. For more information on how to make a donation or volunteer your professional skills, please visit the Trees Atlanta website at www.treesatlanta.org.
